Area Clean-up

April through October, Salt Lake County delivers large containers to neighborhoods for residents to dispose of bulky items or yard waste that won’t fit in garbage cans.

 

If you live in the Sanitation District you will be notified 1 to 2 weeks in advance about your scheduled collection day.

 

Containers are dropped off in your neighborhood sometime between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, and are picked up the following day between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Area clean-up containers are for residents only! If you see construction contractors or landscaping companies using your container, call us at 801-562-6435.

 

Customer tips


  • Do not place your bulky items on the curb or street. All items must go directly into the containers.
  • Rent a green waste trailer for yard waste. All yard waste is turned into mulch at the Salt Lake Valley landfill.
  • If you have large amounts of waste that cannot wait for the area cleanup you can rent a trailer for green or bulk waste.
  • The containers are for residents only. No commercial or construction dumping is allowed
  • Don't put tires, oil, paint, batteries, propane tanks, 55-gallon drums, or any toxic waste or materials in the containers. Salt Lake Valley landfill lists resources for recycling locations for these items.
